Porphyromonas gingivalisRed-complex bacteria

One of three red-complex bacteria associated with periodontal disease. Your dentist interprets the result alongside the other organisms and your gum examination.

Treponema denticolaRed-complex bacteria

A spiral-shaped bacterium associated with deeper gum pockets. It is measured with the other red-complex organisms to give your dentist a broader view of the sample.

Tannerella forsythiaRed-complex bacteria

A red-complex organism associated with periodontal disease and deeper gum pockets. Detecting it provides information for your dentist; it does not establish a diagnosis on its own.

Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitansGum-associated bacteria

A bacterial target associated with rapidly progressing forms of periodontal disease. Your dentist reviews its presence in the context of your oral health history.

Prevotella intermediaGum-associated bacteria

An organism associated with inflamed and bleeding gums. Measuring it adds context to the wider periodontal panel.

Campylobacter rectusGum-associated bacteria

A bacterium associated with gum inflammation. Its result is considered together with the other periodontal organisms in your sample.

Fusobacterium nucleatumBiofilm bacteria

A bacterium that helps different organisms connect within dental plaque. It gives your dentist more information about the biofilm community in your mouth.

Fusobacterium animalisBiofilm bacteria

A related Fusobacterium species included in the panel to describe bacteria associated with plaque biofilms and gum inflammation.

Eikenella corrodensBiofilm bacteria

A bacterium found in oral biofilms that can be associated with periodontal infections. Its presence is one part of the overall microbial picture.

Herpes simplex virus 1Viral DNA

A virus commonly associated with cold sores. It can remain dormant and be shed in saliva; a saliva result alone does not diagnose an active infection.

Herpes simplex virus 2Viral DNA

A herpes simplex virus included among the panel’s viral targets. Your provider interprets a detected result in context; it does not by itself establish the location or activity of an infection.

CytomegalovirusViral DNA

A common herpes-family virus that can remain in the body without symptoms. Its presence in saliva does not necessarily mean active illness.

Epstein–Barr virusViral DNA

The virus associated with mononucleosis can remain dormant and be shed in saliva. A detected result is not, by itself, a diagnosis of mononucleosis or another active illness.

A measure of how acidic or alkaline your saliva is. It helps your dentist understand the conditions around your enamel and interpret your cavity-risk picture.

Buffering capacityAcid defense

A measure of saliva’s ability to neutralize acids. Together with pH, it helps describe how well your mouth handles acid exposure.

Saliva flowNatural protection

A measure of saliva production. Saliva helps wash away food and acids, so flow adds useful context when discussing dry mouth and everyday oral care.
